3. Course in Head and Neck Surgery in Novi Sad…
2012-03-30…took place on the 24. and 25. of March 2012 under the direction of Professor Rajko Jovic. 38 participants heard lectures from a tutoring team of Col. Doctor Dusan Bijelic, Cesare Piazza fom Brescia, Italy, Hiltrud Glanz from Frankfurt, Mihael Podvinec from Switzerland, Zeljko Petrovic, Dusan Milisavljevic and Dusan Bijelic from Belgrade as well as the home team of surgeons and phoniatrists in Novi Sad. All of the participants could actively assist at procedures in the OR.

The fourth Course in Laryngomicroscopy and 3rd Course in Head and Neck Surgery
2012-03-19These two traditional courses were held in Novi Sad under the direction of Professor Rajko Jović.Guests were Professors Hiltrud Glanz from Frankfurt and Cesare Piazza from Brescia, instructors and lecturers were Cp. Doctor Dusan Bijelić, Professors Peđa Stanković, Nada Vuković, Dušica Janjević as well as Doctor Danijela Dragićević. The courses were very practice- oriented. Professor Glanz stressed the importance of cooperation between surgeon, anesthetist and pathologist, professor Piazza demonstrated alternatives of immediate reconstruction after tumor ablation in the oropharynx and the neck.

Professors Glanz and Podvinec were appointed Visiting Professors at the University of Novi Sad

Professor Glanz has been working for six years with the colleagues in Novi Sad and has contributed greatly to the education and further development of endoscopic surgery in Serbia through her assiduous activities within courses in Laryngomicroscopy and Head and Neck Surgery. M. Podvinec was honored for his year-long didactic engagement and promotion of international contacts of the ORL Department in Novi Sad. He has also been elected Honorary Member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Serbia. Both have confirmed their will to continue their work in Serbia.

International Voice Day in Belgrade

Professor Joseph Sopko was invited lecturer at the International Voice day on the 16. of April. His lecture on the care of the professional voice has been well received, also because he had taken pains to pronounce it in Serbian. The Serbian specialists presented extremely interesting papers, and M.Podvinec spoke on the early diagnosis of cancer of the larynx. This research has been done by Lecturer Dr. Marcel Kraft in the Aarau Department

First temporal bone course in Basel, September 1. and 2., 2011
2011-11-01ORL-BAL has organized, for the first time, a temporal bone preparation course for trainees of our Departments, with the participation of the Zurich University ORL Department. The concept of the course was to teach anatomy, with in-process demonstration of surgical landmarks.We were hosted by the Institute of Pathology of the Basel Medical Faculty. 16 trainees worked on 8 work stations for two full days, with the participation of 10 tutors, all experienced otologic surgeons. Every trainee had an entire formalinized temporal bone at disposition.

Society of friends of ORL donates laptop and beamer to the Serbian ORL Society and the TCO
